A skylight trick that works every time
It's a matter of hiding the skylight by extending it far past the hole and reducing the apparent ceiling virtually to the thickness of drywall.
The 'glass' is actually highly domed acrylic, and I've done it with ease over 5 feet. This one is a bit extreme, and I even wonder if that's glazed at all, in fact. The main thing is simply to avoid seeing the edges of the skylight. Besides, there are no heavy birds where I live, ones likely to alight on a skylight, anyway.

is that pragmatic?
too many heavy birds on the
roof will be trouble.
